Buying guide
Repairing an ADF
Whole unit or core
Some listings are the complete ADF with its lid; core ADF assemblies are the feeder mechanism alone. Compare with the part you're replacing.
Rollers first
Misfeeds and double feeds in an ADF often come down to its pickup roller and separation pad, which cost far less than the whole assembly.
Letter or legal
Some MFPs, like the M3027 and M3035, came with letter-size or legal-size ADFs. Match the version you have.

What's the difference between a single-pass and a reversing ADF?
A reversing ADF flips each page to scan the second side, while a single-pass ADF has two scan heads and reads both sides at once, which is faster.
Why does the ADF leave streaks on copies?
Usually dirt on the narrow scanning glass strip the ADF feeds pages across, not the feeder itself. Clean the strip with a lint-free cloth and glass cleaner before replacing parts.
Is a paper feeder the same as a document feeder?
No. A paper feeder adds a tray of paper for printing; a document feeder feeds originals into the scanner. A few paper feeders are filed in this category.
