Using a maintenance kit
What's inside
LaserJet maintenance kits usually hold the fuser plus the tray pickup and separation rollers, and sometimes a transfer roller. DesignJet preventive kits replace the wear parts HP specifies for that plotter.
When it's due
Enterprise LaserJets count pages and display a replace-maintenance-kit message when the interval is reached.
Reset the counter
After installing, reset the maintenance counter from the control panel, or on older models by holding a key at power-on, to clear the message.

Frequently asked questions
Is a maintenance kit the same as a fuser kit?
No. A fuser kit replaces only the fuser; a maintenance kit pairs the fuser with rollers, so it's the one to fit when the maintenance message appears.
Can I keep printing after the maintenance message appears?
Usually, for a while: the message is a reminder, not a lockout. Print quality and paper feeding decline as the worn parts age, so fit the kit soon.
Do maintenance kits fit every printer in a series?
Only the models listed. The LaserJet 4250 and 4350 share a kit, for example, while the 4200 and 4300 each take their own.
