Cable Management Arms

Cable Management Arms covers the hinged arms that carry cables behind a server on sliding rails, so it can be pulled out for service without unplugging anything. HPE arms fit ProLiant DL360, DL380, DL385 and DL580 servers from G2 through Gen9, and Dell's 1U and 2U kits fit PowerEdge models including the 2650, R410, R610, R620, R720 and R920. APC NetShelter vertical cable manager covers and D-ring brackets for organizing rack cabling are here too.

Buying guide

Fitting a cable arm

  1. Rails first

A cable arm attaches to the server's sliding rails, so it has to match the rail kit as well as the server. Static rails generally don't take one.

  2. Server height

Arms are sized to the server's height, so order the 1U or 2U version that matches.

  3. Airflow

A tidy arm keeps cables clear of the rear exhaust. Overloaded arms with heavy power cables can block airflow and strain connectors.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a cable management arm?

Only if you want to slide the server out while it's running. Without one, servers on sliding rails need cables disconnected or extra slack before they can be pulled forward.

Can a tower server use a cable arm?

Yes, once it's in a rack. Towers like the PowerEdge T610, T620 and T710 have rack conversion kits with rails, and Dell sells cable arms to match.

What's a vertical cable manager?

A channel that runs the height of the rack beside the mounting rails to route patch and power cables between devices. APC's NetShelter SX managers take hinged covers to keep the cabling enclosed.
