How do I know if my laptop needs a new inverter?
If the screen is dark but a flashlight held close shows a faint image, the backlight isn't lighting. That points to the inverter or, on CCFL screens, the lamp itself.
Do LED-backlit screens use an inverter?
Not a CCFL inverter. LED panels use an LED driver, sometimes on a separate board like the Latitude E6400's LED converter, so match the board to your screen type.
