Some hinges come mounted on their display bracket, which saves moving the bracket over from the old part.
Check the mounts
A hinge often fails because its threaded mount in the lid or base has cracked. A new hinge won't hold if the mount is gone.

Why did my laptop hinge break?
Stiff hinges strain the plastic mounts each time the lid opens, especially when it's opened from one corner. Open the lid from the center, and replace stiff hinges before the mounts crack.
Do hinges fit every screen size of a model?
Not always. Some laptops came in 14- and 15.6-inch versions with different hinges, and touch models may use their own, so match the screen size listed.
Should I replace both hinges?
If one has worn out, the other has seen the same use, so replacing them as a pair keeps the lid balanced. A hinge broken in a drop can be replaced alone.
