Motherboards
Motherboards covers system boards for servers, desktops, laptops and all-in-ones. Server boards include OEM replacements for HP ProLiant, IBM System x and Dell PowerEdge systems, and Supermicro, Gigabyte and Asus boards for Xeon and EPYC builds. Desktop boards run from HP ProDesk and EliteOne service parts to retail AM4, AM5 and LGA1700 boards. Laptop boards for EliteBook, ProBook, ThinkPad and Latitude models often come with the processor soldered on. Voltage regulator modules for older servers are listed here too.

Buying guide
Replacing a system board
OEM or retail
An OEM board for a ProLiant, OptiPlex or ThinkPad fits only that model's chassis and connectors. Retail ATX, micro-ATX and mini-ITX boards fit standard cases.
System identity
After a board swap, servers and business PCs often need their serial number and product ID re-entered in the setup utility so warranty and management tools recognize the system.
BIOS before CPU
Processor support depends on the BIOS version as well as the socket, so a newer processor in an older board may need a BIOS update first.

Frequently asked questions
Does a laptop motherboard include the processor?
Usually, yes. Most modern laptop processors are soldered to the board, so the listing names the CPU, such as the i5-7300U on a ProBook 640 G3 board. Boards with a socketed CPU, like the EliteBook 8570w's, name the socket instead.
What's the difference between ATX, micro-ATX and mini-ITX?
They're standard board sizes. ATX is 12 x 9.6 inches with up to seven slots, micro-ATX is 9.6 x 9.6 inches with up to four, and mini-ITX is 6.7 x 6.7 inches with one. Server and workstation boards are often wider still.
How do I find the right OEM system board?
Use the spare part number on the old board's label or the system's parts list. Boards for one model can differ by chipset, graphics or WWAN option, as HP's ProBook 4540s boards do.
