Product Description
The Dell PowerConnect 5524P is a high-performance, stackable Layer 3 switch engineered to meet the demanding connectivity needs of modern enterprise networks. It features 24 auto-sensing Gigabit Ethernet ports that provide high-speed connectivity for workstations, servers, and other network devices. Crucially, all 24 copper ports are equipped with Power over Ethernet (PoE) capabilities, allowing the switch to simultaneously deliver network data and electrical power to devices such as IP phones, wireless access points, and security cameras, simplifying deployment and reducing cabling requirements. Complementing the 24 copper ports are two SFP+ (Small Form-factor Pluggable Plus) ports, which offer high-speed uplink or stacking options. These ports support 10 Gigabit Ethernet speeds, enabling high-bandwidth connections to core network switches, servers, or for creating a resilient, high-performance stack of multiple 5524P switches. The Layer 3 switching functionality allows the 5524P to perform inter-VLAN routing directly on the switch, offloading this task from the router and improving network performance and scalability. Beyond its robust port density and speed, the PowerConnect 5524P incorporates advanced features essential for enterprise network management. This includes comprehensive Quality of Service (QoS) controls to prioritize critical traffic, robust security features such as Access Control Lists (ACLs) and port security, and support for advanced protocols. Its stackable design further enhances flexibility, allowing administrators to manage multiple switches as a single logical unit, simplifying configuration, monitoring, and maintenance while increasing port density and resilience.
