This QSFP+ (Quad Small Form-Factor Pluggable Plus) transceiver from Check Point is designed for high-density 40 Gigabit Ethernet (40GbE) applications. It complies with the 40GBase-SR4 standard, which utilizes parallel optics technology to achieve its high bandwidth over multi-mode fiber. The module operates at a wavelength of 850nm, commonly used with VCSELs for short-reach MMF links. The CPAC-TR-40SR-SSM160-QSFP supports data transmission up to 150 meters on multi-mode fiber. This makes it ideal for short-reach connections within data centers, such as switch-to-switch or server-to-switch links. The SR4 standard typically uses 8 parallel fibers (4 transmit, 4 receive) within a single cable assembly. Featuring an MPO (Multi-fiber Push On) connector, this transceiver is designed to connect to multi-fiber ribbon cables. The QSFP+ form factor offers a compact and high-density solution for 40GbE networking. It is hot-swappable, allowing for easy installation and replacement without interrupting network operations.
