The Accortec SMCBGLLCX1-ACC is a specialized Bi-Directional (BiDi) SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) transceiver module designed to optimize fiber optic usage for 1 Gigabit Ethernet applications. Unlike standard transceivers that require two fiber strands (one for transmitting and one for receiving), this BiDi module utilizes a single strand of single-mode fiber (SMF) by transmitting data on one wavelength and receiving data on a different wavelength. This significantly reduces the amount of cabling required, making it an economical choice for network upgrades or deployments where fiber availability is limited. This transceiver operates using a pair of wavelengths, typically 1310nm for transmission and 1490nm for reception, or vice versa. It is crucial to pair two BiDi transceivers with complementary wavelength assignments at each end of the fiber link (e.g., one with 1310nm Tx/1490nm Rx and the other with 1490nm Tx/1310nm Rx) to establish a functional communication path. The module is designed for single-mode fiber and supports distances of up to 10 kilometers, making it suitable for medium-reach enterprise and campus network connections.
