Description
The Ubiquiti PrismStation 5AC (PS-5AC) is a robust and high-performance wireless bridge designed for demanding outdoor wireless deployments. It leverages the IEEE 802.11ac standard to deliver exceptional throughput speeds of up to 500 Mbps, making it suitable for high-bandwidth applications such as WISP backhaul, campus bridging, and video surveillance links. The device operates in the 5 GHz frequency band, which provides a good balance between available spectrum and interference resistance. A key feature of the PrismStation 5AC is its integrated 29 dBi horn antenna. This type of antenna offers excellent directivity and side-lobe reduction, which significantly improves noise immunity and allows for longer-range links compared to traditional dish antennas in certain scenarios. The precise beam pattern helps to focus the RF energy towards the intended receiver, minimizing interference from other sources and enhancing the signal-to-noise ratio. Designed for carrier-class performance, the PrismStation 5AC incorporates advanced RF filtering to further combat interference in crowded RF environments. It is powered via Power over Ethernet (PoE), simplifying installation by allowing a single Ethernet cable to carry both data and power. The device is managed through Ubiquiti's airOS or the unified UISP platform, providing comprehensive tools for configuration, monitoring, and management of wireless networks.
