Product Description
The Ubiquiti NanoStation M2 (NSM2) is a powerful and compact outdoor wireless device designed for Point-to-Point (PtP) and Point-to-MultiPoint (PtMP) bridging applications, as well as functioning as a wireless access point. Operating in the 2.4 GHz frequency band, it is well-suited for extending network coverage in areas where wired infrastructure is impractical or cost-prohibitive. Its integrated 11.2 dBi dual-polarity antenna provides a focused signal, enabling robust wireless links over significant distances. At the core of the NanoStation M2's performance is Ubiquiti's proprietary airMAX technology, which utilizes a Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) protocol. This advanced polling mechanism allows each user to send and receive data at scheduled times using a proprietary time slot. This eliminates the hidden node collision problem and maximizes airtime efficiency, resulting in significantly higher throughput and lower latency compared to traditional Wi-Fi standards, especially in congested environments. The device boasts a high-performance Atheros MIPS 24K processor and 32MB of SDRAM, enabling it to handle demanding network traffic with ease. The NanoStation M2 features a durable, weatherproof enclosure designed to withstand harsh outdoor conditions, including extreme temperatures, moisture, and UV exposure. Installation is simplified through Power over Ethernet (PoE) support, allowing a single Ethernet cable to carry both data and power to the device, reducing the need for separate power outlets at the installation site. This makes it an ideal solution for various applications, including building-to-building links, wireless surveillance backhaul, and extending Wi-Fi coverage to remote areas.
