Product Description
The Transition Networks SBFTF1010-130 is a Fast Ethernet Redundant Link Protector (RLP) designed to enhance network reliability and ensure uninterrupted data flow. In critical network applications, link failures can lead to significant downtime and operational disruption. This RLP device addresses this by providing automatic failover capabilities, seamlessly switching network traffic from a primary link to a secondary (backup) link if the primary link experiences an outage. This specific model is equipped with both copper and fiber optic interfaces. It features two 10/100Base-TX RJ-45 ports for connecting to copper Ethernet segments and two 100BFX SC fiber optic ports for redundant fiber optic links. This hybrid capability allows for flexible deployment in networks that utilize both copper and fiber infrastructure, offering robust protection against link failures regardless of the media type. The RLP monitors the status of the primary link. If the link goes down, the device instantly redirects traffic to the backup link. Once the primary link is restored, it can automatically switch back to the primary link (failback), ensuring that the network utilizes the preferred path. This automatic and rapid switching mechanism minimizes data loss and network downtime, making it an essential component for mission-critical networks.
