The Transition Networks M/E-PSW-FX-01-LA is a Fast Ethernet media converter designed to bridge the gap between copper Ethernet cabling and fiber optic networks. It allows for the conversion of signals between a 10/100Base-TX twisted-pair copper connection (using an RJ45 connector) and a 100Base-FX fiber optic connection. This functionality is essential for extending network distances beyond the typical 100-meter limit of copper Ethernet, enabling connectivity across larger areas such as office buildings, industrial sites, or campuses. This specific model utilizes an ST fiber connector, a common bayonet-style connector, and is designed for use with multimode fiber optic cable. It supports 100Base-FX transmission, which typically allows for network extension up to 2 kilometers (approximately 1.2 miles) over multimode fiber at a wavelength of 1310nm.
