Product Description
This GBIC (Gigabit Interface Converter) transceiver from RiverStone is designed for Gigabit Ethernet networks, operating at a data rate of 1.25Gb/s. It adheres to the 1000Base-EX standard and utilizes CWDM (Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing) technology, allowing for multiple channels to be transmitted over a single fiber strand. This specific unit operates at a wavelength of 1330nm. The GIC-CWDM-1330 is capable of transmitting data up to 40 kilometers over single-mode fiber. This makes it suitable for medium-range backbone connections and inter-building links. The CWDM capability enhances fiber utilization efficiency, which is particularly beneficial in networks where fiber capacity is limited. Equipped with an SC connector, this GBIC module provides a reliable physical interface for the fiber optic cable. The GBIC form factor is an older standard, but still found in some networking equipment. It is designed for hot-plugging, enabling installation and removal without powering down the host device.
