Product Description
The HP VU531AV memory kit offers a total of 6GB of DDR3 memory, distributed across six 1GB Unbuffered DIMMs (UDIMMs). This configuration is intended for standard HP desktop and workstation systems that do not require the advanced features of Registered DIMMs. DDR3 technology provides a good balance of performance and power efficiency, with the 1333MHz speed (PC3-10600) suitable for general computing tasks and moderate multitasking. Unbuffered DIMMs (UDIMMs) are the most common type of RAM for consumer-grade systems. Unlike RDIMMs, they do not have an onboard register, meaning command and address signals are sent directly to the memory chips. This makes them simpler and less expensive, but also limits the total amount of memory a system can reliably support compared to RDIMMs. With a CAS Latency of 9 (CL9), this kit offers reasonable responsiveness for everyday applications. Importantly, these modules are Non-ECC (Error-Correcting Code), meaning they do not have the built-in error detection and correction capabilities found in ECC memory. This is typical for consumer systems where the cost-benefit of ECC is not as critical. The HP branding ensures compatibility with HP systems.
