Product Description
The HP J3103A is an expansion module specifically designed to integrate with Hewlett-Packard's AdvanceStack line of network switches. This module adds two 100VG-AnyLAN ports to a compatible AdvanceStack switch chassis, allowing network administrators to expand their network infrastructure by adding more connectivity options or connecting to other network segments that utilize the 100VG-AnyLAN standard. 100VG-AnyLAN (Voice and Data - AnyLAN) was a networking technology that offered deterministic performance and Quality of Service (QoS) features, particularly for voice traffic, alongside data. It operated using Demand Priority access method, which allowed for better prioritization of traffic compared to early Ethernet standards. The J3103A module leverages this technology to provide these benefits on its two ports. As an expansion module, the J3103A is intended to be installed into a modular chassis-based AdvanceStack switch. This provides a flexible and scalable approach to network design, allowing organizations to customize their switching infrastructure based on current needs and upgradeability. It serves to increase port density and extend the reach of the network, supporting the growing demands for connectivity in enterprise environments of its era.
