The HP 1990-4635 SFP+ transceiver is specifically designed for 10 Gigabit Ethernet Short Reach (SR) applications over multi-mode fiber optic cabling. This module enables high-speed network links within data centers, enterprise buildings, and campus environments where shorter distances are typical. Featuring a duplex LC connector, the standard for most fiber optic connections, this transceiver is compatible with a wide array of networking equipment that supports the SFP+ form factor. The 850nm wavelength is characteristic of transceivers used with multi-mode fiber, which is generally less expensive and easier to handle than single-mode fiber for shorter runs. With a maximum transmission distance of 300 meters over OM3 or OM4 multi-mode fiber, the 1990-4635 provides ample reach for typical intra-building or data center rack-to-rack connectivity.
