The Finisar FTLC9551SEPM is a cutting-edge 100 Gigabit Ethernet QSFP28 (Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable 28) transceiver module, engineered for high-density, short-reach applications within modern data centers. It supports the IEEE 802.3bm standard for 100GBASE-SR4, enabling data transmission at speeds of 100 Gb/s over multi-mode fiber (MMF) infrastructure. This makes it an ideal solution for switch-to-switch, server-to-switch, and other critical interconnects within racks and across rows in large-scale data center environments. This transceiver utilizes a parallel optics design, employing an MPO (Multi-fiber Push On) connector that typically houses 12 fibers (though only 8 are used for SR4: 4 transmit and 4 receive pairs). The 850nm wavelength is characteristic of short-reach multi-mode transceivers, offering cost-effectiveness and high bandwidth over OM3 or OM4 fiber optic cables. The maximum transmission distance supported is 100 meters, which is sufficient for most intra-data center cabling requirements. The FTLC9551SEPM is designed for plug-and-play installation into QSFP28 ports on compatible networking equipment.
