This transceiver utilizes a parallel optics design, employing an MPO (Multi-fiber Push On) connector that typically houses 12 fibers (though only 8 are used for SR4: 4 transmit and 4 receive pairs). The 850nm wavelength is characteristic of short-reach multi-mode transceivers, offering cost-effectiveness and high bandwidth over OM3 or OM4 fiber optic cables.
