Description
The Quantum CDM24 is a high-density data storage tape cartridge utilizing the DDS-3 (Digital Data Storage) format. This 4mm tape is engineered to provide reliable and secure backup and archiving capabilities for small to medium-sized businesses and individual users. With a native storage capacity of 12 GB, it can hold a significant amount of data. When employing data compression techniques, which are commonly supported by DDS-3 drives, the effective capacity can be doubled to 24 GB, offering greater storage efficiency. The cartridge is 125 meters in length, a standard for DDS-3 media, and is designed for durability to withstand repeated read and write cycles. Its robust construction ensures data integrity over time, making it suitable for long-term archival purposes. The DDS-3 technology offers a balance of performance, capacity, and cost-effectiveness, making it a popular choice for backup solutions before the widespread adoption of higher-capacity formats. To utilize the CDM24 tape cartridge, a compatible DDS-3 tape drive is required. These drives are known for their relatively fast backup speeds for their era and their ability to provide a reliable sequential access storage medium. The Quantum CDM24 represents a dependable option for organizations looking to implement or maintain a DDS-based backup strategy for their critical data.
