Product Description
The Avago AFBR-709DMZ-SN1 is a high-performance SFP+ transceiver module designed for short-reach, high-bandwidth applications over multi-mode fiber. The SFP+ (Small Form-Factor Pluggable Plus) form factor provides a compact and hot-swappable solution for 10 Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Fibre Channel networks. This transceiver utilizes an 850nm VCSEL (Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser) transmitter, which is a standard for short-reach multi-mode optical communication. This module is optimized for use with OM3 and OM4 multi-mode fiber optic cables. On OM3 fiber, it typically supports distances up to 300 meters, while on OM4 fiber, it can reach up to 400 meters. These distances are sufficient for interconnecting servers, switches, and storage devices within a data center or across a campus network. The use of 850nm wavelength is cost-effective and widely adopted for these short-reach applications. The AFBR-709DMZ-SN1 features an LC duplex connector for a secure and reliable fiber optic connection. Like most modern transceivers, it is expected to support Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) or Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM), allowing network administrators to monitor key parameters such as optical transmit power, optical receive power, temperature, and voltage in real-time. This facilitates network management, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
