Description

The HP AJ768A#ABA is an external storage device belonging to the HP StorageWorks RDX removable disk backup system. This particular model offers a 320GB storage capacity, utilizing a cartridge-based system where the actual hard drive media is housed within a removable cartridge. The '5.25-inch' designation refers to the form factor of the external enclosure or docking station that houses the RDX drive mechanism, designed to fit into a standard 5.25-inch bay in a server or workstation, or as a standalone external unit. The RDX technology was developed by Tandberg Data (later acquired by ExaGrid) and licensed by HP, providing a robust alternative to traditional tape backup. It offers the benefits of disk-based storage, such as faster backup and restore speeds compared to tape, along with the removability and offline storage capabilities of tape. The system typically connects via USB, providing broad compatibility and ease of use. This external drive is intended for small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and enterprise workgroups requiring reliable data backup, disaster recovery, and archiving solutions. The removable cartridges allow for secure offsite storage of data, protecting against local disasters or cyber threats. The AJ768A#ABA represents a specific configuration or bundle within the RDX family, offering a complete external backup solution.
