Product Description
The Dell PERC H330 (7G4YN) is an entry-level RAID controller designed to offer fundamental data protection and storage management capabilities for Dell PowerEdge servers. It supports a maximum interface speed of 12Gb/s SAS and SATA, allowing for high-speed data transfer to and from connected drives. This controller is ideal for environments that require basic RAID configurations for redundancy and performance without the need for advanced features or large cache memory. This Mini-Blade form factor controller is specifically designed to integrate seamlessly into compatible Dell PowerEdge server chassis. It supports common RAID levels including RAID 0 for striping (performance), RAID 1 for mirroring (redundancy), RAID 5 for striping with parity (balance of performance and redundancy), and RAID 10 for striped mirrors (performance and redundancy). It can manage both SAS and SATA hard disk drives (HDDs) and solid-state drives (SSDs). Key limitations of the H330 include its lack of onboard cache memory and no support for a battery backup unit (BBU) or flash-backed write cache (FBWC). This means that write performance may be lower compared to higher-end controllers, and data in cache during a power loss is not protected. Despite these limitations, the H330 provides a cost-effective solution for basic RAID needs in many server deployments.
