Desktop PC

Desktop PC is a mixed set of complete systems. MSI Trident, Infinite and Codex gaming desktops pair 9th-generation Core i7 processors with GeForce GTX 1660 to RTX 2080 Ti graphics, alongside an Asus ROG Strix GL12CX. Asus PB60 and PN60 mini PCs, a Chromebox 3, an MSI Cubi N and a ZOTAC ZBOX barebone suit small spaces, and HP thin clients like the t510 and t5745 serve virtual desktops. Older HP Evo D530, dc7700 and Vectra systems are here for legacy needs.

Buying guide

Choosing a desktop

  1. Barebone mini PCs

Models labeled barebone, like the Asus PN60 and ZOTAC ZBOX MI572, need memory, storage and an operating system before first use.

  2. Chrome OS

The Asus Chromebox 3 runs Chrome OS. With a Chrome Enterprise license it can be managed centrally from Google's admin console, which suits kiosks and shared desks.

  3. Legacy systems

Systems like the Evo D530 and Vectra VL800 are bought to keep old applications and serial or parallel devices working, not as everyday PCs.

Frequently asked questions

Can I upgrade the graphics card in a gaming desktop?

Usually, within the limits of the case and power supply. Compact models like the MSI Trident series have less room and power for large cards than full towers like the Infinite X Plus.

What is a thin client?

A small, low-power computer that runs a minimal operating system and displays applications running on a server or virtual desktop, over protocols like RDP, Citrix or VMware Horizon.

Do these desktops include an operating system?

Most titles name it: Windows 10 Home or Pro on the MSI and Asus systems, Chrome OS on the Chromebox, and Windows Embedded on some thin clients. Barebone units have none.
